Historic District Electric was founded in 2016 by Ken White, a master electrician who grew frustrated with the way larger electrical companies operated in Brooklyn’s historic neighborhoods. Too often, he saw homeowners being upsold on unnecessary work, or worse, receiving substandard service that didn’t account for the unique needs of older homes.
Ken started this business with a simple philosophy: treat every home like it’s your own. That means honest assessments, quality workmanship, and respect for both the homeowner and the building itself. It means understanding that when you’re working in a home built in 1905, you need to know not just current electrical code, but how these buildings were originally constructed and how they’ve evolved.
The “Historic District” in our name isn’t just geographical—it’s a commitment. These neighborhoods have character, history, and residents who care deeply about maintaining them properly. We’re honored to be part of that preservation work, one electrical project at a time.
